PRESS RELEASE/7/31/14/catBOX ENTERTAINMENT.  Filming is nearing completion and post production is soon to be underway for the much anticipated music special 'Darla Z’s Love Songs ‘Round The World' starring singer/songwriter Darla Zuhdi.  Filmed in her home state of Oklahoma late July, 2014, at OCCC's Visual and Performing Arts Center and also filming on location in  Las Vegas, Nevada, this second music special in the 'Darla Z ‘Round The World' series made for public television, features songs of romance in combination with Darla Z's unique blend with  musical history.  The TV special includes three original songs by Darla Z, including the hauntingly beautiful Annie’s Love, which is Darla Z’s musical tribute to a 300 year old Celtic love song.  Also included are fresh and innovative arrangements of the classic love songs 'Hello' and 'Fly Me To The Moon.'  Slated to premier in time for Valentine’s Day in February, 2015  throughout the United States on public television stations, this special will follow closely in the footsteps of 'Darla Z’s Christmas ‘Round The World' which will broadcast again in its second season on public television this December.  In its first season, Darla Z’s Christmas special, which was also filmed in Las Vegas, broadcast over a hundred times on public televisions nationwide, including Canada and the Virgin Islands.   To coincide with the release of the television special, the soundtrack CD of 'Darla Z’s Love Songs ‘Round The World' will be available on iTunes February, 2015.  For more information on Darla Z, visit www.darlaz.com or contact Darla Z's  manager,  Attorney Bill Zuhdi at 405.232.1400.

Darla Z (Zuhdi) has been named as the 2014 Woman of the Year by Women of the South.  Darla is an accomplished author, songwriter, vocalist and food critic.   She began her on stage musical career in 2005 opening in concert for Willie Nelson.  Since 2005, Darla Z has performed in Las Vegas, opened in concert for Wayne Newton and presently, is the star of a network public television series called “Darla Z’s Round the World.” 

 

Darla and her husband, Bill, have been married for thirty years.   Darla serves as the paralegal for Bill’s law practice and handles all of his legal research and writes legal briefs.  She also helps Bill manage catBOX Entertainment.

Accompanied by legendary arranger and conductor, Bob Rozario, this new performance from Darla Z filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, kicks off with the Parisian version of Jingle Bells – one of 16 songs that truly inspire holiday cheer. Within this hour long special, Darla Z explores the history of each carol, revealing surprising facts behind some of our most beloved holiday traditions. Filled with joyful Christmas carols flavored in tone to a specific area of the world, with footage from charming locales across the globe, this delightful musical extravaganza showcases different cultures and celebrations of the season. Presented by Oklahoma’s public television station, OETA, Darla Z’s Christmas ‘Round The World is set to be uplinked to members of the National Educational Telecommunications Association mid November in time to broadcast on public television throughout the nation this holiday season.  Some interview segments in the special contain footage and photographs provided by the Oklahoma History Center, National WWI Museum, Jasmine Moran Children's Museum and the Hawaiian Visitor's Bureau.
 
Darla Z began her musical career opening in concert for Willie Nelson. She has performed frequently in Las Vegas and also has opened in concert for Wayne Newton, who proclaims Darla Z as having a "Great voice...a beautiful and talented lady." Her vocal performances in Las Vegas have been heard nationwide on the radio station program Stay Tuned America. This Christmas special is the second network special by Darla Z, her first, Darla Z Live From Las Vegas, was released nationally in 2011.

Darla Z is also the author of the four children’s books in the Cat Detectives series, including the beloved holiday book, Tale of A Christmas Angel. Her first book Finding Your Dream, was recommended by The Humane Society of the United States and her other books have been enthusiastically reviewed by Cat Fancy magazine and New Mexico magazine.
Darla Z is a board member of the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum located in Oklahoma and is an advocate of quality, wholesome entertainment for children and families.
